Hello there,
The shop I gave my QX 56, year 2008, to service it filled in the wrong transmission fluid (MITASU CVT NS-2).
Can I solve the problem just by changing the fluid or does the transmission need to be repaired/maintained? (I drove the car approx. 25 mi back home from the shop, with extreme lost of speed at the last few miles. Now it stands at home, never driven again since 3 weeks.)
Are workshop (repair) manuals available in this forum? (Because I want to maintain my car in the future on my own. (There seem to be no competent shops in Ghana, West Africa. Japan Motors, Nissan Department, Headquarters Accra, branch Kumasi does not work on automatic transmissions and gives the transmissions, even for an oil change, to a sub-company which repairs transmissions with hammer and chisel on the mud floor in front of a metal-container, as it is quite usual here.)
Thanks for any help in advance.

clearly if the shop put in the wrong fluid, they should fix the issue and any issues that may arise.

the transmission can be flushed and filled a couple of times to rid of the old fluid.

drain.. fill... dive for a few miles... drain.. fill..dive for a few miles.. drain.. fill and you are good.

yes there is a service manual for the car. x.infinitihelp.com

Hello marctronixx,
thank you for your answer.
I know: In the USA and also Germany it would be the normal way to give back the car to the shop which caused the trouble...
BUT: Here is Africa. I don't trust this shop any more and would not like to give them this high tech wonder again.
First of all: They explained to me that they don't work themselves on automatic transmissions  ???
Then they brought the car to a sub-company/contractor, who is working under conditions you probably can't imagine. This is Stone Age in the year 2014.
The shop itself doesn't even have a diagnostic device.
If you could see how they repair cars over here, you would cry or at least shake your head, not to talk about maintenance, which I think is an absolute exception over here.
I have a good lawyer here and will take the shop (Japan Motors, Nissan Department to court).
The only chance I will have to get back this car on the road again is to help myself, after I won the process, which I will.
I will buy a diagnosis device and a car lifter and will maintain/repair my car in the future by myself in the big garage of the house I'm going to build.
In Germany I bought a BMW K 1150 LTD Motorcycle used, had some problems with it and took it apart, replaced the broken parts and reassembled it, with the help of some people of the BMW K Forum - and learned a lot. (It's running perfectly again.)
Also I have found another German who is very experienced in repairing cars. We will work together and will try to help other high tech car owners here in Ghana.
But from time to time I might have a question and will post it in this Forum.
I sure would be very grateful for sending me (workshop) repair manuals on CD/DVD and will sure pay the arising costs ahead. (Who knows the "speed" of the African network, will understand me.)
With kindly regards.
Henry

i sent you the link to find the qx service manual.

get nissan corporate involved. you have prof they did the wrong thing.

if you have access to a lift and the proper equipment, just drain and refill yourself. its not difficult to do.

Hello marctronixx,
thank you for your hints.
I found the link for the manual, and will try to download it. (Which will be not easy at all: The network here is lousy and downloads take eternities, if they can be completed at all. I'm used meanwhile to the message that the time was out or the server couldn't be found, because of the download speed, which is here around 20 Kbit/sec., but also can be slower.)
I wasn't idle meanwhile and read a lot about transmission oil-changes and flush the transmission.
Therefor I know it's not difficult to do, and "do it / help yourself" is often the only chance one has here in Ghana.
I soon will start to build my house here and will have a huge garage in which I will have a car and a motorcycle lifter and now also a flushing machine for automatic transmissions, to be able to help other people too.
A friend of mine and I will open up a shop to repair cars and will be better equipped than the most shops here, e.g. also with a OBD II Diagnostic center.
After my Infiniti problem is solved by the help of the court, I will change the oil - and meanwhile not move the car.
I also already had the idea to inform Nissan / Infinity about what happened here to me, but they are not reachable via email and want a fax - but I will do as you advised me and hope the best.
The next fax machine is in Kumasi and most of the time not working: This is Africa. - But the weather conditions are nice most of the year. ;) (And also about the girls I can't really complain. :naughty: )
Kindly regards
Henry
