Transimission Question

My mom's transmission went on her 97 infiniti qx4. She offered the car to me and i picked it up for a couple hundred dollars. I have the new transmission ready to be mated with the transfer case but the one spring popped out and I dont know how it goes. Here is a picture to explain what I am talking about: Is this set up correctly and if so why does the spring always pop out of its position. Thanks, Andrew

Look at the mating surface on the transmission, that is definately not correctly mounted.

Your missing parts man. Most importantly the adapter case that allow the trans to connect to the transfer case. It looks like you bought a 2WD trans and took the tail housing off of it. Without the adapter case you have no hope of connecting the 2.

i have the adapter case that connects to the transfer case, thanks for scaring the ish out of me. Ill go make sure it is correct though. Am i missing any other parts? thanks though Andrew Edit: Here is a new pic i got that shows the setup correctly, I hope. Can some one verify this? Thanks for all your help

That looks right. now does the adapter housing bolt up to the trans correctly?

Yeah i checked that when i made sure i have everything. thanks for the help, i appreciate it . hopefully ill get it running this weekend and get some pics up.
