Anyone have a idea of how long this would take to do? I got a priceing for a CA18DET transmission for 400$ shipped. Yet I can get a used KA transmission for like 100$ in great shape. Is it cheaper to get the guts swaped over or spend $300 extra for complete CA transmission.

well that depends if you're going to pay to have it swapped, and how much you can get the bellhousing for.

I bought a KA transmission and found a CA bellhousing in a junkyard. Swapped the two over with hand tools and a set of snap ring pliers. It's easy to do. I would recommend that route.

Just make sure you can get CA bellhousing!

So swap your CA bell housing on to the KA transmission and call it a day.

oh damn thats easy buy a nice KA transmission and a forged pivot ball and throw the two together. Theres very detailed info in the FSM about taking the transmission apart.
