transfer fluid and rear diff oil change

folks, those who have done this yourself, what type of oil (brand and weight) did you use and how long did it take you? i'm not too worry about the rear diff, i mean it's only two hex screws; one filler the other drain but do you remember what size was the hex driver you used?

for the transfer fluid, can someone take a pix of this guy? i'm looking at the maintenance pdf right now and i just want to be sure. thanks for those who help.

thanks Freddie. I guess no one else did these things by themselves. I didn't know there's another site for Infiniti M series.

what i want to know the most is the dam transfer fluid location and purpose. i guess i will have to search the g/z forum

I was told it's the same, 2 plugs and the same oil as the rear.

We have detailed pictures of the differential fluid change process in some thread here - although it was for a G, it applies equally easily to the M. Might need to do a search for it.

In your AWD situation, the front differential is done the same way - more or less, afaik. The diagrams in the maintenance PDF should be sufficient, I would think (but not sure since I have not actually changed oil in any front differentials - my M is not AWD).

Use 75W-90 (or 75W-140) Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear oil for the differentials. Please do confirm this from the maintenance manuals, of course (link to them is in my sig below).
