Ok, so I did a diff and transfer case oil change on my 2015 Roge AWD on Sunday, since then I can smell burning oil when I drive. I put it on the lift and took a look and no signs of leaks from the plugs, but there was oil on the exhaust heat shield (I cleaned it with a rag a brake parts cleaner after I changed it). When I filled it, I filled it untill oil just started to trickle out the fill hole. Was this correct?

If you don’t have any leaks just drive it. The oil smell will go away. Anytime you get oil on an exhaust component it takes a while to go away. Recheck after a 100 miles or so if the oil is back on the exhaust sheild where you cleaned it then you’ve got a leak.

Filling it till it starts to trickle out is correct, of course your vehicle needs to be level.

I found out that despite using the proper torque, the torque wrench was no good and the bolt just wasn't getting tight enough. while driving I guess the pressure was just enough to make a few drops here and there.

lesson learned, always check your tools lol

Which are the drain and fill bolts on the 2014+? There is a 10mm drain on the driver side, but there is also what looks like a drain on just opposite of it on the passenger what would be easier to get at and not spill all over my exhaust. Also, I assume the fill is the square plug on the passenger side that my extension will just fit into?
