Transfer case fluid change-cycle before?

Just a quick question - should I cycle 4x4 before changing out transfer case fluid?

Or don't bother?

Edit - adding: I mean shift into 4x4 to get the old fluid all moved around, or is the fluid allways moving around when the engine is on...

I can't imagine it'd matter much either way. Any fluid left in the transfer case will be a negligible amount.

My TC fluid was still tinged red, but very dark. Had about the same amount of metal debri on the magnet as my oil pan magnet.

Glad that I had help working the fluid transfer pump. Probably could have done it myself if I had a better pump...
