2009 Rogue SL AWD 326,000 miles
I thought it was torque steering left during acceleration/deceleration. Yesterday, I noticed it is doing it in both direction; more so during transaxle shifts. Is this a transaxle issue, or CV joints? All front suspension parts recently replaced (Except sway bar bushing. I only have one. I'm thinking there should be two). Being only 26 years old, this car is a beast! I don't want to scrap it .:wtf2:
Old-school wrench here, not very up to date with front wheel drives.

Check the rack bushings, subframe bushings, and LCA's. They can all cause torque wander when the engine changes position under load or the inertia of the car changes. On a ride that old, darn near anything rubber could be worn out.

I've replaced both LCAs. How do I check/test the subframe bushings? There is only one sway bar bushing. Dealer is only showing one in the book. There seems to be a lot of play with only one. Can the second one be added?

If you look here, you'll see "2 required" for both the bushing and clamp. So evidently you're missing one:

The sway bar can't cause steering vagaries except over bumps, because it only acts when one wheel is compressed and the other isn't. On level ground or when both wheels are compressed, it does nothing.

You check the subframe and rack bushings with a prybar, both should allow only the slightest movement even under extreme pressure.

Hi Guys,
I have finally gotten out of surgery/therapy for a bit. I was able to get under this beast and attempt to lower the subframe to change the bushings, but, I hit the f'n wall!!! The front bolts don't seem to be coming out! Are there nuts on these bolts that a wrench can be applied, or are they supposed to be welded/secured. It seems as though the blot and nut are just spinning. Both sides are doing the same thing.
Without too much detail, three of us were in a car wreck (different vehicle). We're banged up and I need to get this thing fixed for different medical reasons. Please help a brother out. Thx.

If you mean the long bolts holding the front of the subframe (54010A in the diagram I linked), there are no nuts. They thread into weld-nuts in the body member. If the weld-nuts are rusted and stripped then there's probably no non-destructive way to remove the bolts. If the weld nuts are broken loose then frankly the whole car is in trouble.

Thx for the reply. I was afraid that would be the answer. If I figure out a non-destructive method to secure them and get the bolts removed I will definitely post here.
