Im swapping my auto for a 5spd in my 95. My question is do i have to have a 95+ trans? Or will the s13 trans mount up to me? I need a 100% sure answer here because im going to buy it very soon. My other question is ive heard that swapping for the cams in an s13 will give me more power. Is it the s13 in general or just the 91 model. Need a 100% answer on that also because ill be purchasing them this weekend.

YES the cams give you more power, I have them in my S14 right now.

NO the S13 transmission will NOT WORK. The driveshaft dosent completley go into the transmission so it grinds against the collar of the S13 transmission. I just found that out the hard way. Everyone is going to tell you it works but they will be wrong. In order to use it you will have to grind the collar where the drive shaft goes into the transmission for some more clearence. I guess if you dont mind taking the time to modify the transmission it will be ok.

Let me know if you want a pic of the differances.

Why not just take the collar off? iirc it is just a steel piece that is pressed on.

here is what I am talking about. Yes I suppose you can remove the collar since it is just press fit but I could not get it out. I suppose I could drill holes in it to get a better grip.

I got the 91 cams with a motor I picked up down in atlanta. Yea I like them the power is much smoother across the power band. I lost a little power in the low end but up top the difference is quite noticeable. You should be able to picup some at a junkyard for cheap.

also...how much did u end up paying for a MT? and since your doing it yourself how hard is the install on a 1-10 scale? im considering doing this myself so i gotta kno whats up before i get in over my head lol. Im out in the middle of kno where in NC. The only thing around me are Mustangs and Camaros so itll be hard to find a mechanic that knows enough about the 240 to do it.

You don't need the ecu to do the swap. Granted you will probably get a cel, but you just have to jump the shift position sensor to get it to work.
