Bought a 90 2+2 automatic and am getting together all of the pieces for the TT conversion. Would like to know if anybody has done a trans swap that would allow me to install paddle shifters. I like the shifting but have long legs and bad knees. Any thoughts? Also any thoughts on limited slip differentials. Haven't studied this very much yet.

Thoughts on LSDs, our cars come with them stock, but after time and mileage sometimes they don't work as effective as they did 20 years ago!

I would think (but don't know for sure) installing paddle-shifters is possible with the stock transmission. What we need to do is find out how electrical part of the transmission works. It probably gets some electrical signal that causes the transmission to shift. If you could tap into those electrical signals with a switch, maybe it could work. I don't know anything about it, but that's an idea to get the brain storm going lol

Thanks for the reply. Also in Charlotte. I read on another post somewhere that these transmissions would not accept paddles but feel more confident with this and the TT site responses. Wondering if a 350z, 370z, g35, or g37 auto would work in one of these without a whole lot of adjustment all through drivetrain.

Do you have any trustworthy service techs you use in the area?

Absolutely - the best place to bring your car is NissTech in Indian Trail, without a doubt...I have visited them a lot and they work on 300zx's alllllll the time. I also don't mind doing small sidework, I don't have a garage or a lift at my house though.

Here's NissTech: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?clien ... 6722589236

JWT will be releasing a product soon that allows a 6-speed transmission from the 350Z to be paired up with the VG30. I'm not sure if the auto can work with that adapter. I will look at the wiring diagrams for the 300zx auto soon if I get the chance

Yeah, have heard of Nisstech and planned to go by. Most concerned about the Transmission being able to take the stress. About a week to 10 days from buying the clip to get started.

Was going to use the N/A but just did not feel I was going to be satisfied with the power compromise after reading posts for several months. Thanks to all of you who have posted previously with photos. Motivation.

Will probably have some of the parts I have already purchased for sale as I make the upgrade. Just did not want to go half way at this.

Have seen paddle shifter for the RE4R03A (TT) big brother to the RE4R01A (NA). Also, the 3A now with mods holds 700HP+ while the 1A can hold with mods 550hp. We were the first builder in the US to have a reverse manual valve body with our own built 3A ..in effect doing away with all the electronics and installing a ratchet shifter.. Running on the street proved to be fun (shifts just like a manual except without clutch and no slippage)but
the flud temps ran high all the time..
