Good morning gents,
I just spoke with the dealer in my area (Charles Barkley in Virginia Beach) and they were kind enough to pull my VIN and give me some history. They will print it out for me when I bring the car in for service....which is a nice touch.
Apparently the front end of the car has had a fair amount of work in the last 20K miles with new struts and some bushings, but there was still a rattle or clunk of some sort reported by the owner about 10K later.
The car was reported to need knock sensors in July of this year but they were not done by the dealer. CB advised me that the car would not run worth a damn without this being done, but the seller maintains that the car runs beautifully....so we shall soon see. If they are needed, I assume that this can by a DIY project. I have yet to read up on them but I have a shop manual on the way and reasonable mechanical skills and tools. Any thoughts?
CB also advised me that they would give the car a free diagnostic once over and provide me with a detailed list of everything they find. Apparently Infiniti is offering this as a freebie at this time. (In case anyone has an interest)
It looks as thought the car has received regular dealer service through out most of it's life.
They quoted me $160 for trans service and recommended just using ATF and not Mobil1 that I has been suggested on this site. They also said that they would NOT perform this service unless it was required and that it's possible to cause more harm then benefit depending on it's current state of affairs.
I am itching to get my hands on this ride. Even if it requires some work, I got it cheap and am willing to get my hands dirty.
The fog light is on it's way. Thanks to all.
