I think the revolution sensor is bad in my 1997 J30t as the transmission shifts rough and also likes to come out of overdrive at highway speed whenever i let off the gas. My question is:

Can the revolution sensor be replaced without removing the trans? Does anybody have step by step instructions for it?

Send question is, i noticed when changing the oil on the car that the removable sight window cover on the bottom on the torque converter cover is missing. There is a metal cover over the torque converter as the engine does not total match up the bell housing. Dealer told me they can not order a small separate part like that.

Any idea where i can get one as i don't want water and dirt to get in!

download the FSM and it will show you where the revolution sensor is, it's on the right side of the transmission, along the shaft...one bolt, one plug......no, the transmission definitely doesn't have to be removed to get at it...just have to have some small hands and a long 10mm wrench.
