i already posted this in the tech forum, just seeing if i could get a response here too.

ok, im looking to FINALLY buy my 240. ive found a car, its an '89 with a slighty dinged exterior but an interior that looks like new. according to the description, the person tried towing the car without disconnecting the driveshaft and now when the car is put in any gear it just drives forward. they are asking $650. i was in my autos class in high school for all 4 years and i know i can fix anything related to the engine, but the problem is that i dont know close to as much about the whole driveline. since i wont see the car until next week i wont be able to diagnose the problem. does anybody know which part(s) may need to be replaced? heres that part of the actual listing just in case i missed something:

This 1989 240sx was a nice car. Until I made the mistake of towing it with a car dolly and did not disconect the drive shaft and this stupid move did something to the trans. The car after this when started every spot on the shifter it would be in a forward gear. How bad the damage is I do not know. because I just hauled it back and it has been sitting ever since.

um enough parts to warrent getting a decent used trans from a wreking yard. It will cost you more to fix that thing the to buy a used trans. Building a trans is not easy and likely your autoshop teacher didnt even know how to do it himself.

i have rebuilt one a/t and it was not easy. not really fun either because you are just waiting for something to happen to it afterwards. i had to sell my old b12 after that. just get a junk trans. they are so cheap anyway.
