Flint,

Check out the "A/T problem" thread (#96505) in the Convertible Forum.

Many of us had the same symptom and Online Mechanic "NISTECH" narrowed it down to the Revolution Sensor in the Transmission. Quick solution is to simply disconnect the sensor since the computer reverts to using the vehicle speed sensor if the Revolution Sensor is not connected.

One person solved the problem by simply cleaning the contacts in the connector from the Revolution Sensor. (located under the hood, next to the fuse box)

I disconnected my sensor and all has been perfect ever since. I just bought a replacement sensor and will install it and reconnect it. But for now, leaving the Revolution Sensor unplugged is doing the trick.

Hope this helps.

if you don't mind me asking, where do you buy the new revolution sensor? been looking around everywhere and most places haven't even heard of them

TofuTech,I bought one online at genuinenissanparts.com - they have a very complete parts catalog online. Cost $122 + $17 shipping - local Nissan dealer quoted $156 and I would also pay sales tax. It did not come with the o-rings you need.

I haven't tried installation yet but the manual shows dropping the rear transmission cross member and lowering the engine & transmission "as far as you can" to get the old out and the new in.

I'll post my experience with that install, but as long as the transmission is working well, I'm in no hurry.
