Has anyone ever seen a trans pan leak like this? I can't wait to get a jack under the car for a better look.
Guessing that I need a new pan....are they all the same basic shape and where do you recommend I order one from. 2009 g37x

Clean that spot with brake cleaner and a clean rag. It's impossible to diagnose with grime on it.

Almost looks like road debris damage, but hard to tell for sure.

Yeah,,,it almost looks like it rusted and has a crack. The car doesn't have enough fluid to move. Thankfully, I noticed this while the car was sitting for quite some time. I saw a small drip,,put some cardboard under it and eventually it soaked two pieces. I guess stay tuned for when I can get under there.

Any info on ordering a pan? Are they standard shaped?

Ok cool. I saw one site that mentioned 4was, 5at, etc... its my sons car. I have no idea what it is and it showed more than one pan number.

It's a 7AT (seven speed auto).

I got under the car today,,around the drain plug was corrosion. I picked it off and saw a drip forming, took a screw driver and easily poked a hole right through the pan.

Holy hell. No autobahn for that car.... if the pan is that rusted, I'd have concerns about the more important bits.

In all honesty, I'd snag an inexpensive replacement (maybe even a junkyard pan) and replace it and get as many miles as you can out of it before anything else goes awry.

I know..kind of strange. I guess that's what sitting on a concrete driveway for a year or so does
I hope when I remove the pan that the inside isn't bad with rust. That's a whole different ball of wax.

The inside won't be problematic, it's been bathed in ATF.

I'm guessing from the looks of things that the car has lived in an area where the roads are treated with salt / urea for snow / ice, and 13 years of corrosion isn't pretty. Cleaning the undercarriage regularly is a must for those climates, as is treating with a rustproofer. Too late for this gal, but a good cautionary measure for the next one.
