Trans or Steering oil odor.

Hi,

I have noted a strong Trans or Steering oil odor in the cabin of an Altima Coupe 2008 3.5 CVT with, 4000 miles.

I am not very sure, but I think it happens when I step into the gas, from low speed.

Previous owner, (my father) never reached more than 50mph.

Do you think this could be a normal situation?..

With 4000 miles on it would make me think it is still under warranty given that you dad has not thrown a turbo on it to reach over 50mpg

Have you asked the dealer yet? Make sure to use and abuse that warranty, that is what it is there for. Do not be afraid, you are the customer.

If you do not like what you hear there, make some phone calls to local shops. See who will "Inspect" your vehicle for free (or the lowest price). They can at least tell you what is wrong, or why you may be experiencing this smell.

You did the right thing by asking on the forums, i believe this has been asked before.

by the way, as you will see from LongBeachCoupe, Welcome! and save "X" link. I am sure he will post once he gets home from his new job.

Try using the search tool on the top right. Search for key words about; Smell, Transmission, or other things like that.
