I'm going to get the trans flushed sometime this week and I wanted to know:

How much ATF will I need to buy for the flush? The tech told me something like 16qts.

And, should I go with Nissan ATF or something like Mobil1? I'm looking to get the most life out of my transmission.

What kind of car do you have? Your list to the left says 300z?

And before I would have my transmission flushed, I would drop the pan, install new filter, and refill and drive around like that for awhile. Then when you go to have it flushed, you will know that the filter is good.

I am using Mobile 1 synthetic ATF in my 94 J30.

AT exchange machines use ~~ 14 quarts of ATF to make sure that the majority of old ATF is exchanged.

What a system holds is less important than what you use to accomplish the job.

AT have internal passageways that cross leak back into pan so use enough to be sure.

Sorry if I threw you guys off with my profile. I bought a '95 J30 as a DD recently.

I am replacing the trans filter and gasket while I get the trans flushed. Is that bad?

I have no idea what fluid the previous owner used for the trans. Going to synthetic could be harmful couldnt it?

My car has 121k miles
