i'm tring to figger out how to hook up trans cooler lines into the ca 5speed, i know its the same trans as the KA and SR, I searched but not pretty much nothing. I live driving very long drives 3-18hrs at a time. I do alot of cross country driving. The crusing RPMs of the CA for me at about 65-80mph norm Highway speeds are rather high in the 4,000rpm band. I'm not used to that, and I'm always worried about cooking the transmission. I am pariniod about it, I lost my last car to a cooked trans. Any one have pix or advice to hook one up?

This is just not practical. Your transmission probably was binding-up anyway and that's why it failed. And if your RPM is that high at 65-80, may I suggest you change your differential. You can use one off of an Infinity J30 and that should fix your high rpm issues, but a cooler on your gearbox sounds ridiculous and requires too much effort for little to no gains.

The CA S13's here in Germany don't seem to have many issues with the transmissions on the autobahn. HAven't seen to many fail but our cars do come stock with rear diff coolers that run an external pump.

Why not have an electric pump pushing the oil and have a filter in the system to clean the oil? This would help out the oil stay cooler and cleaner. Oil would'nt just sit there and metal particles would be captured by the filter element.

Anytime you can remove heat from moving mechanical parts, i think you are helping.

You want to hook me up with one of those sweet diff cooler setups?

I can if you want. I got TMS one. The euro vs dollar kind of screws it up a little bit right now though. I got TMS his for about 100 but the dollar has dropped quite a bit since then and I owed him. That was with the cooler and the pump. I can't get the rear diff cover though because most people won't part that out from the diff. You will have to drill and tap your own diff cover to make them work.

Damn, well I'm broke right now, but it would be totally sweet to have. Maybe after the holidays.

As stated by ragenasian, these gearboxes don't just fail. If the factory felt that there was going to be an issue with them over the course of how many years of building high powered cars, they would've installed them from the factory. Not even nissan's more powerful 6 and 8 cylinders are equipped with a cooler, but hey do what you want to.

Just be sure to run quality fluid and you should be fine.
