Will a KA24E transmission hook up to a KA24DE ? and will the valve cover from a 93 240sx fit on a 96 240?

if its a 240 transmission then yes it will fit, and for the valve cover,no it wont fit because the cylinder head castings are slightly different between a 93 KA24DE and a 96 KA24DE. If u were to look at the bolts between the spark plug holes on the valvecover that holds it down, the 94 and older dohc KA's has 3 bolts and the 95+ KA's has 2 bolts and no 3rd bolt on the rear

Is there a way to tell if the 96 KA in my 93 240 is a KA that came off a 240? The reason i ask is because when I was changing the trans fluid i noticed the trans was not completely bolted to the engineand was open about an inch around the bottom. So im not sure what the guy did before I had it and if he swapped a 96 240 KA or used one from a junk yard that might have come off a truck or something.

pretty sure the motor mounts are different for the truck motor. You might want to visit the write up about supercharging the KA for a hardbody truck. There was a lot of motor/ transmission options that fella was looking at his special application.

That inch of open space your talking about is suppose to be there, and yes it doesnt bolt to the engine. Its where the backing plate that goes behind the flywheel suppose to bolt to and cover that open area and for automatic trans, its where the inspection plate/gussets bolt to. I also think that it must've come of a 240 because 96 hardbodys came with sohc KA w/me assuming u have a dohc KA, and even if u did have a sohc the trans will bolt up anyway.

I took some picture of the gap just to make sure it is what you are talking about. From under the car it looks like there is a place for bolt yet there are no bolts. The trans also has a lot of movement. If this is indeed what it is suppose to look like is there anyway to quiet down the excess movement at higher rpms ? or is this standard ? (i have a B & M shifter hooked up which might contribute to the extra pull on the shifter at high rpms)

any input is greatly appreciated.

yup, dats exactly what im talkin about. As u can see dat backing plate needs to be bolted to the trans and those bolts are the bolts that needs a nut on the other side, you could get it at any of your local hardware store, Then u should be fine about that rattling and high RPMs.

one more question. should i be worried about the dirt that has icumulated on the inside of that plate ? and if so any recomendations on how to clean it without dropping the transmission ? (airgun maybe?)

well as long as its dirt and your clutch is not slipping then you should be fine, cause minor dust from the friction material from your clutch does build up in there. The next time u drop your trans when changing the clutch i would recommend cleaning inside of the bellhousing and regreasing your throwing bearing if its still in good condition. If u have anymore questions in the future i would be glad to help you, you could email me at [email protected]
