transmission won't shift into DS mode

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Transmission won't shift into DS mode so I have no means of downshifting now. However, after I stop then restart the car, it works again. Calling service tomorrow, but has anyone else experienced this?

I had a problem with the shifter sensor a year ago. I shift it to M mode and just for a few miles, the small LCD screen changed from M to D even though the shifter knob was placed on M notch.

After a few days, manual mode is totally gone. Went to the dealership and 3-4 shift sensor were replaced. I drive 95% in manual mode and I bet mine will break down again. Good thing I already have an extended warranty for another 5 years /95k miles.

My EX35 started to do this... Hate it... I loved driving in manual mode. Does ANYONE know how to fix this???? ANY help is much appreciated, and I can't take it to dealer as my warranty is up. Apparently, this isn't covered under powertrain warranty.

Is it that you CANT take it to the dealer, or don't WANT to take it? I'm sure they would give you a free estimate and depeding on how far out of wty, maybe some flexibility?
