While getting the guides done, my tech told me he noticed slight slippage in the trans when cold. he said it stopped when warmed up. The trans was rebuilt about 20k miles ago and have been told upgraded parts were used such as kevlar plates?. Tomorrow the Q goes back to the shop where the rebuilt happened. The warrenty just expired a couple weeks ago so not sure if it can be wrangled into a warrenty repair. My tech told me he would vouch for the symptoms. My question is, does the kevlar parts have anything to do with the fluid being cold and causing a slight slip. If a warrenty repair is not an option would a flush/fill pan drop help? Is there anything I should push the shop to look at when I drop it off. I'm new to this so any advice would help. Thanks Jeff:help

Not sure what Kevlar parts may have been used, but in my Level 10 rebuild, which uses all Raybestos Blue Plate Special clutches, there is no warm up period required. Something else is going on here, hope the warranty covers you.

Even factory rebuilt trannies are only warranteed for 365 days/12k............yet most last 4-5 years or 50,000 miles if maintained well. We have seen some go 100k with synthetic ATF/external cooler/JWT tcu,etc and annual changes but that was 25k per year Interstate mostly....$4000/100,0000 something like 4 cents per mile prorated sounds good to me!

After 20k the additives in ATF are pretty well used up as shown by the new vs used color comparison test. {drops on white paper towel].

A full flush and pan clean can only help not harm. Considering the cost of a rebuild and swap $3,000, spending $300 per year to get an extra year on the end is almost always cost effective. Annual flushes do prolong the lives of rebuilds

Don't know if this helps nuQ, but my transmission (while it was failing) worked fine when cold, but started acting funny after warmed up. Just the opposite of your problem. What kind of Tech told you this? An Infiniti/Nissan Tech or someone else? After my own experiences and hearing many other's stories I am skeptical of most techs (and some Infiniti techs). The guys in T3 are the only ones I would 100% trust and I've never even been there. But like Q45Tech said, after 20K it's probably time for a transmission flush. Try some synthetic ATF and see what that does for ya.
