Hey, im stumped. first, since i bought my 1990 240sx, i haven't had reverse. it wont go in the reverse spot. the entire shifter assembly is off to the right abought an inch and a half. when i put it in fifth gear, the shifter actually hits the console its over that far. but when i got under the car and looked, the transmission is all bolted it and square on the crossmember. Also, if i shut the car off and get back in, sometimes the pedal is so solid i cant push it down enough start it with out feeling like im going to break or bend the pedal assembly. when and only when this does happen, maybe once out of every five times i start it, it wont go into any gear even with the clutch in. i have to force it in, and of course it grindes and stuff, but once i get it into gear its fine, drive fine, shifts fine, but of course still no reverse. i can fix it if i know what the proplem is but i am not a transmission guy so if any body has had this problem or has any insite please dont be shy.

thanks

I would just replace the trans. It is too cheap to replace to go through all the trouble to rebuild. As far as the pedal is concerned I would check the throw out bearing if the problem does not go away with another trans.
