Hello. Robert Yoshioka here (again)! Well, I think that after spending what seems like days and days reading posts and taking notes, that I am going to bite the bullet and get myself a transmission to replace the one that is apparently malfunctioning.

So, the question becomes: Does anyone have the name, address, phone and possibly email addy of a reputable used transmission place either here in California or?

Am hoping to have the Q back on the road by the end of the year, and so would appreciate hearing from anyone either with referral information or with an offer for a used transmission that I can have installed in my ailing 1991 Q45.

I must say, people on this forum website are very helpful and willing to share all sorts of information, and for that I am grateful.

I never knew that there was so much to learn and/or to do with/by/for my Q 45.

Well get this off hope to find some replies tomorrow when I return to my computer.

Thanks, in advance, for any specific suggestions or offers.

Best,

Robert B. [email protected] or 805-264-1142 (CELL)

Hi!

To answer your question: After further thought, I am looking for a good used transmission with intact harness (or so the shop said), at a reasonable price...do you know of any resources that you can point me to?

Also, is it difficult to replace solenoids as another person suggested that replacing the solenoids and checking the electrical system for shorts might be attended to before trying to deal with the transmission.

Thanks,

Robert B. [email protected]

you are ALWAYS taking a chance with a used transmission... Ideally youd like to find one as fresh as possible.... Still warm, if you will...

you may get lucky and get a good one the first try, but it may take 2 or even 3 attempts before getting a keeper....

If you have the time, like to gamble, and don't mind reapeated labor, go with the used ones.

Otherwise get a factory remanufactured one from Joe.
