i wouldn't think so, but im not sure on that one. why would you want that old of a transmission in your 97 anyway?

Well the 89-90 transmission worked in my 92. I don't know about obd-2 and the different sensors. Flywheel size and etc. In my car all I had connected was speed sensor. With you car being newer it will probably throw sensor codes resulting in the check engine light. Nick

mechanically it will bolt on. I just bolted a 97ka24de to a 1989 manual trans. which is in my car. as far as the sensors go, see if they are similar to the ones on the older trans. in other words you might be able to switch out the sensors to yours so the harness will still plug in to them. hope this helps

I believe that you could also just use the guts from the 90 transmission in the 97 bellhousing if you needed to but I don't know if that would effect the sensors at all.

sorry for the late reply, no I don't have any problems whatsoever with my transmission. everything bolted up great, and now it shifts and runs great.

BTW, it is an 89 transmission mated to a 97 KA24DE engine.

well in my case the sensors were the same. I have a wire harness from a 91 car installed into the body of an 89. so this means that the sensors on the transmission from 89-93 probably connect the same way. Now for the S14 harness to connect to the S13 transmission sensors, that might be a different story. but I believe the 5-spd trans is the same for all. So, you could probably install an older transmission into a newer car, mechanically they are the same, just pull the sensors from your old (s14) transmission and install them into the used (s13) transmission. That would solve the connectivity issue.
