Alright well here is a dumb question, I need to put some more gear oil into the transmission, well before the install I removed the big plug that is directly on the bottom of the transmission, well the guy that was helping me tipped the transmission up and about a Quart drained out, So now that its installed how do I put more in now thats everything is installed???

Remove your shifter and dump it in there!

its a pain in the *** you probably need to go under the car for the up front ones. you could buy one of those pumps you put on top of the gear oil quarts and use the fill hole.

Uuuuh, does no one use the proper method for this? You know there is a fill point on the side of the transmission right? Use a 1/2in drive extension and put it in the square plug up on the pass. side of the transmission. Remove it and fill with 75w90 until it is level with the hole (its like a liter or two, cant remember). I believe this is how the FSM says to do it. Nice because you cant over-fill it this way. Dumping it down the shifter hole just sounds so sketchy.

Well the problem is that I'm at school its hard to get underneath my car and i have no access to a jack so dumping it down there is easiest

If there is a simpler way that produces the same result less the extra dramas, why would you follow what is considered the correct way? Factory boost settings are supposed to be between 5 and 7 psi of boost, but there's not many of us that care to follow the factory's recommendations and still get excellent results (welcome to the world of performance development).

You're entitled to your opinion, but it works and it takes alot less effort than jacking-up a car, getting under it and possibly putting yourself at risk of getting hurt when there is a way that helps you accomplish the same goal. Hell, some of you may aswell use the factory boost solenoid if you want to go the proper route . But again, you all can feel free to do whatever you want the way you want to your car because it is yours as well as any of your opinions.

P.S. I actually use the proper method for my FWD configuration because any other way (and there is more ways) would complicate such a simple task .

I dont know, I tend to use coastal gear oil (you know, the really, REALLY cheap stuff) and it comes in those 1l bottles with the length of hose on the end. It actually seems like much less work than removing the shifter because I dont actually have to crawl under the car to do it. If you didnt have the hose thing (god forbid) it would totally suck. 1 large cap screw = less work than however many bolts there are in the mystery that is my shifter plate deal.

I'm still trying to see where I said for him to remove the shifter plate . I personally would never remove the plate itself and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as it is just too much work. When I told him to remove the shifter, I meant just the shifter and not the plate and if this clears things up for everyone, then there you have it. Just need to remove the circlip that hold the actual shifter to it's base and pour 3.2 quarts of gear oil in that puppy and call it a day.

Ah, sorry, my mistake. I thought you were talking about surgery to the top of the transmission. My circlip is worn out like a 75 year old prostitute, so I try and avoid it at all costs, but whatever works easiest I guess.

A 75 y/o prostitute has some beat twiz-at, but I'm sure you'd hit for a case of brew or a bottle of Jack .
