I still haven't gotten the car on the road yet, it seems like I keep finding one little problem after another. Today I discover, with the car still up on jackstands, that when I go from 1st to 2nd, I grind a little bit, with the clutch fully depressed. It doesn't do it in any other gears, just going into 2nd from 1st so I'm assuming its got bad syncros.

I'm going to try changing the slave cylinder and rebleeding tomorrow, but if that doesn't do it, I know I have to switch out my transmission. My question is, can this be done without removing the bellhousing from the engine? I'm trying to find the easiest way to do this, and I'm hoping theres another way than pulling the entire thing. I really didn't want to fight with the 16 or so bolts holding the bellhousing to the block.

Also, how difficult is it to switch bellhousings? Is it a pretty involved process or is it something simple?

Do you have enough fluid in your transmission, Sounds dumb I know but not enough lube could be a problem.

As far as removing the transmission I am pretty sure that there are bolts inside the bellhousing that need to be removed as well, and if you just removed the transmission you would have to mess with gaskets and other fun stuff. If your going to get a new transmission why not use the new bellhousing?

Only really difficult thing about it is the c-clip at the front of the transmission after you take that front cover off. You need a c-clip tool, or you're screwed. Also...be sure to drain all your fluid before attempting it. And, have some RTV silicone on hand when you join the two parts back together.

Because I'm not getting an SR trans, I'm using the one from the KA that I already have since i know it works.
