transmission swap

Hey guys I was wondering if I could swap a 90' ka24e transmission into my 92' ka24de engine......one more question I just got my 240 back on the road and every time I let off the gas it starts popping out of the exuast, is this normal when you remove your cat and put a test pipe in place of it?

Oh I already checked the search page and it only came up with a 90' to 91 swap.
