transmission swap question

ok here what's up with my car, it's a 92, the guy I bought it from tried to swap in an sohc engine and ecu, he couldn't get it to work so he sold it, I think he just wired the ecu wrong (if you know anything else that it could be I'd appreciate that too), but what I need to know is will the 92 transmission work with the sohc, and do does it matter whether the ecu came out of a auto or standard, the car is currently auto but the guy didn't tell me if he got the sohc ecu out of auto or standard so I wasn't sure if that could be the problem.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!

im pretty sure an auto needs the auto ecu for ignition reasons an park lock stuff i know you can runa 5speed off a auto ecu but you would encounter problemns i think all 240sx trannys work with all years 89-97 i believe

The only thing I can tell you is to get a ecu wiring diagram from both cars and try to rewire the ecu connector.
