ok, back....I started this job at a place called "Split Second Performance" in Houston, Tx owned by a man named Will Proper. Pretty much they told me the transmission swap would be a easy job (little did I know how far from the truth this was). They completed the job or so they thought and then got into an eletrical bind. After calling them time and time again I came to find out they went out of business and this dude didnt even tell me. I had to actually go to Tx and take my property back turbo kit and non running car. Once I hadgotten the car I called around and no one would touch the car. I even called Speed Force Racing about it but I'm glad I didnt go with them. After, calling multi performance shops and Nissan dealerships I got turned onto one Nissan Dealership called "Key Nissan" in Hardeville, Sc. They had my car for 2days and finished the transmission swap and fixed all mistakes that fast. The name of the mechanic who actaully finished this job name is Ernest.

In conclusion, if you want a transmission swap these are the dudes to truely talk to about it. I would not recondmend it for the trouble it has called me but once again like I said if you want it done call these guys and they will get the job done quick and right.

Now, on the car side it runs like a charm and I'm loving the booste of power....I have a turbo kit I need installed but I do not know a good shop around me. I'm in Ga., so if anyone knows a shop let me know =).

Awesome man glad to hear the car is working great. How many miles have you put on it since the swap?

Is this shop in SC or in Tx?? Do you have the guys number?

Also could you email me [email protected]
I have some more detailed questions that you might not want to throw out for everyone to read.

Thanks Cant wait to see how everything turns out!

Good to hear you finally got your car running dude :bigthumb: . You might wanna change your car info though because I was the first to do/start the transmission swap and have it completed in perfect condition. Started June of 09 and got it December of 2010. Have just under 1K miles and not 1 problem with the car since I picked it up from Tim at SFR.

wow, can't believe a dealer ended up doing it. I didn't think they would touch it. I guess it's more of a "mom and pop" outfit that desired the extra cash flow, haha... Did that shop in Houston seem suspect at all when seeing it? Sounds like you had a hard time finding a "true" performance shop.

I guess, we'e just going to have to figh over the title, because I was on the phone with SFR while they said they were still working on yours and went to this Nissan because it seemed they wuld never finish yours...I have been unable to post updates due to the fact I wa in afghanistan....but my car has been done for many many may months now...and my job was started feb of last year >_< but anyways....welcome to the tanny swap brother hood.

Just some FYI SPR took you for alot of money and lies.....all those holes they said they had to fabercate are aleady in the car...talking with the Nissan guy earnest he told me the frames of the auto and man. are identical the only diff is the components they put on them. So basically all you need is the pieces and they fit perfect with no extra work....just thought you should know.

If you tell m how I will make a video of it running and walking into the car and show the paper work where it saids auto so you can see there is no lies or s*** in hs job.

That was my question but I was trying to be more tactful and answer it in email.

How about is if you list out a ballpark on the transmission and components needed?
And then the hours to complete the job?

That way we arent completely blowing up your spot.

Ya I lack tact sometimes but not like we all aren't curious :P

Ballpark and components would satisfy me as well, if you don't feel comfortable saying that's fine also.

Some of you already know the research I've done. Parts alone could range anywhere from $3,500 to $8,000 from what I can tell.

Depending on if you go new trans instead of used, HLSD, aftermarket clutch/flywheel, etc.

:chuckle: :chuckle: I know I know..... Im just hoping someone is going to stun me by saying... Oh i got mine done for $2500... lol

Yeah Im banking on $5,000.00 for the parts but the labor is what scars me.... Ricky's took 2 year.... I can't even imagine the labor/hr rate they charged..... And if these guys can get it done in 2 days that amazing.

My mechanic told me he could get it done in 18 hours.... but I didnt believe he so now apparently it is believeable.

I have no prob dicussing price....ok ths job is not worth the cost but here we go....origanally it cost me 3,500 for th swap at "Slip Second Preformance" but as I said they couldnt finish the job.....the Nissan dealership cost me 3816.42 to finish the job....now you have to understand the first job had a donor car wher they were stripping the parts from and mounting to mine, so without that that 3,500 could cost way more. I would guess if you had your own pieces it wouldnt be more than 2-3g for labor because for th labor cost of mine 13hour job to finish it cost 1g in labor.

I look at your site, some of the things your replacing you dont need to dude.....listen to me when I tell you....the CVT and Man. are identical.....there re actually only very few pieces you have to swap out....I mean litterally lke maybe 10-12 pieces....your mouning bracets are the same in FACT the 6SPD is lighter than the CVT go figure...

So how much was done before that dealership touched it? Like was it $3500 + $3816.42 or just the later amount in total?

And yeah, I have it listed as "unsure"... I kind of figured the mounts and insulators and such weren't needed.

Do you think the guy at that dealership could get a list of the parts needed? Coming from a Nissan dealer, that would be awesome!

From what I've read, the only thing that would fit our car MT version is using the Nissan Xtrails platform but that is only sold in Canada and Australia. Not to mention it being absurdly expensive to pull off. Anyway, back to topic, I started thinking, the prices mentioned were confusing me, how much was the labor exactly? $1000? $3816? $3500? Or all 3 combined???? Or were some parts included in that?

this is why I gave you my number, so if you had any questions I could just answer them but here we go. Ok, listen at key Nissan for for they had left it cost 2600 something for parts the next 1k was for the labor. The 3,500 was the cost of the other shop it started at.

As for a AWD I dont know, what I do know is you could go RWD if you wanted to spend the money, because the G35 and altima coupe are pretty much the same frame. There is no limit to what you can do to a car if you have the money to spend to do it.

I'm telling you dude unless you've alrdy bought pieces for the car it would be easy to trade it in for a 6SPD MT. Here's one thing your not thinking of, once you do what I do your warenty for the whole car is gone. Why not trade it in for what you want, keep the waranty, and save some money? 3500+3600 (rounding down for ya) is 7,100 and that's if you can get the first half of the job done as cheaply as I did from the scam shop.

First, you can throw that warranty talk out the window, I think most of us here realize that we won't have them after doing what we want to do. What's the point of going MT if you don't upgrade your car far past warranty? Mine was thrown out the window the moment I started boosting so it's a null factor now.

Second, is this the dealer you refer to?
http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=3 ... ,0&t=h&z=7

If so, do you think we'd be able to obtain information on what parts are needed by calling? Obviously e-mailing a list is probably what would happen. I just don't want any stupid comments like "wth, mt swap? you crazy", lol... But yeah, it does sound like that initial $3500 you spent kinda went down the drain. Sucks.

The engines of the g35/37/350/370 are mounted differently than our cars. So that would cause the trannys not to mount up. Im not interested in goin rwd. I want awd cuz its BO$$ and handles better in adverse weather.

Bump. I need an answer on if the above listed dealer is the correct one?

Going to try to get my hands on this infamous list that no one seems to be willing to divulge.
