transmission stuck in 5th

i broke my 5th gear/reverse shift fork, would it be easier to replace the shift fork ($44 from nissan) or change trannys? i already have my transmission out but i have not taken it apart i ran out of daylight, so which would be better and more cost effective

if you havent taken it apart how do you know you broke the fork??

because i have a friend who did the exact same thing i did and he said he broke his 5th/reverse shift fork...so can i get answers or am i gonna get more questions???

Well lets examine your problem a bit. You know exactly what you broke. It only costs 44 bucks to replace. Or you can swap out the transmission. Whats the most cost effective choice...

Looks like you've answered your own question. Wow, thats 5 mins I'll never get back.

that is exactly what happend to mine. my reverse gear fork broke. but i had one overnighted to me and they sent the wrong part. honestly if you have another transmission that works and you know works, then use that. because taking apart a transmission is no fun at all.
