When I push down the clutch pedal my transmission makes a squaking sound, it's pretty high pitched. It sounds like it's coming from right behind the clutch slave cylinder. I took off the slave cylinder and played with the pedal, no squaking. So I don't think it's the clutch at all. Though I just replaced the clutch slave cylinder, and that's when it started. Is there something inside it that needs to be lubricated? I had oil on the pin part and a little inside the rubber boot over it. I'm trying to check the fluid in my transmission and I chagned it about 6000 miles ago. I can't get the bolt off for the life of me though. Thanks.

almost forgot, it's a 1993 240sx, everything is stock, none of it has been replaced to my knowledge and it has 96k miles.

that sounds like a worn out throw out bearing. that bearing carries the load of the clutch when the peal is down. sometimes it makes a roaring noise. you must remove the transmission to replace the bearing and most clutch kits will include a new one.

Awesome. Well my engine is making that great ticking sound, so I'm just going to take it to a mechanic, spring break is over and I'm not about to take out my engine and transmission in the middle of a parking lot.

Thanks for the help though chris, now I just need to find a mechanic near my school that's willing to work on a nissan.

Forgot to ask, how long do you think it's safe to drive with the throw out bearing like it is? I have to go back to school tomorrow, which is a 200 mile trip. I've put about a 100 miles on it since it's been squeaking.

does the noise go away after driving a few mins? I would lean more toward the pilot bushing if so,which is also in a clutch kit.

Yeah it does go away when it gets warmed up. It had been awhile since I took my car out for an actual drive that lasted more than a couple minutes. I don't think it's really anything, my clutch feels the same as always, was probably just from my car sitting on jackstands for so long and me using the clutch so much when bleeding the stuff.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll try and take a look at it in May when I put in the flywheel. The car probably won't see much driving anyways.
