95 auto 120,000mi.

today i went to park in work and put in reverse to straighten out and te engine reved but it didnt go anywhere. left work was ok for 5 minutes then i guess it slipped. i dont know what a slippin transmission is like but i asume its liek this. i would have to trun it off for a min start it back up dont go past 2000rpm for a couple hundred feet then do it all over again. i did have the transmission out cuz i was gointo do a 5spd swap but got screwed so i put it back in but the toruqe convetor was sittin outside. do u think any rain that might have gotten inthere scrwed it up? thats what im hopin. it was good for about 500mi. wheni had it on jack stands i put it in drive and the rear wheels spun and gay a lil gas and they still did. so is it the torque convetor? if it is anyone got one that works?

240sxgtrguy has had alot of incoherent posts lately...

It sounds like the torque converter or the transmission's shifter hydraulics. Have you changed the fluids in them recently?

yes i changed them after i took the transmission out. i feel like i didnt put enough fluid in the torque convertor but wouldnt more go in as i drove around? i tried to put it in 1st and 2nd when i did it wouldnt click in but felt like mush sumthin like that. if its just the troque convertor i can deal with that jsut need to find a workin one

im really not too sure about auto trannies, if the car didnt do this before you took the transmission out i would just double check everything if possible.

Sounds like the stall converter is not locking up correctly. That would explain why you can't go past 2000 rpms since that is near the factory stall speed.

Check your fluid level first, if the fluid is full then you may have burnt up your stall or your valve body in the transmission.

i cant really say what your problem is, but a transmission that slips will take extra time to get into gear, its the clutches inside of the transmission that go bad. you will be able to tell, the engine will stay at higher rpm's as it tries to shift. it might also have a hard time chosing a gear at lower speeds when you are applying even throttle, sort of slipping in and out of two. and sometimes at low speed, or when the transmission is cold, it will pop hard into gear when just pulling out, or shifting into drive from park.

reverse is usually the first gear to go out in an auto transmission, one left me pushing my car out of a parking spot after class one night.

Does the transmission whine before it shifts when you get on the throttle?
