i've noticed a few times with in the past few months or so that my trans hasn't been shifting into O/D. Sometimes at speeds of 55-65 it runs in 3rd or 4th!! It hasn't been doing this alot, i've only noticed this happening a few times. I own an 01 Q and i don't know much about the trans, but I thought that checking out the fluid would be a good start.....pulled the dipstick out, fluid looks clean and doesn't smell like it's burning or bad. Has anyone had problems with their trans slipping? could this be a TPS problem?

Do a transmission flush.

I had major slippage after I ran my transmission to hard through the grapevine (nasty hot uphill pass in CA) and had to get a new pan seal. About 6 months later I must have knocked some gunk loose and I couldn't keep the thing in any gear higher than 2nd for more than a few seconds.

My shop tossed some additive into it and it cleared right up. I got it flushed again a month later and haven't had any problems since.

My 01 Pathfinder with 85K did the same thing last WI winter and did not have a problem in the warmer months. Evidence of a broken rear seal in transmission which I will have to get fixed.
