Q45a '90Been trying to fix A/C illumination so while I'm in there I want to replace as many bulbs as possible. With much trouble the window switch bulbs are done but I can't see how to get at the bulbs that indicate which gear is selected on the consul. Can NE1 point me in the right direction please.

Are you talking about the ones by the shifter, or the ones in the instrument cluster (on JDM models only)?

Thanks Heath

The ones in the consul by the shifter. They light up the P,R,D,3,2,1 and I think, shift lock button. Don't the USDM Q's have light indicators on the consul?

I only started to sort out the A/C illumination problem and now I'm in one hell of a mess Greg

The shift lock button doesnt get lit up...

I think to replace those bulbs you have to take the entire shifter assy out.. not really hard just disconnect it from the trans and then undo the 4 bolts and the harness connector...

Greg..

if you get under the car you can see where the shifter comes down out of the car.. A thin metal bar that is bolted onto the trans with a 10mm nut. May be rusted so put some penetrating oil on it.....

As far as the 4 bolts holding it to the car, you need to remove that thing around the shift console, that black rubber boot looking thing. The bolts are on the 4 corners.

ThanksI might give it a miss for a while until I work up enough energy. Seems like a lot of trouble to go to just to replace a few $2 bulbs. I haven't driven it for about 2 weeks now and I feel the urgent need to get it out and THRASH some poor unsupecting rev head.

Cheers
