transmission question

I was wondering how different are the ka and sr trannys because I just went through my second transmission and I have like four ka trannys laying around. are the gears the same I know the bell housings are different but is the rest similar or what any info would be good. Peace Jace M. Hudson

They had this little topic discussed on FA b4 and I think it's in their "Best of 240sx" archive which discusses the difference between the sr and ka gearbox. The fellow enthusiast that did the comparison discovered that the ka has higher gears so that means you'll have higher top end with the ka gear box than with the sr one. That's the only difference.

The KA transmission bellhousing bolt pattern is slightly different than the SR's.

thats why I was thinking of taking the sr bell hosuing and swaping it on to the ka gear box. will it work

I didn't say yes b4...thought you may have gottten the point, but YES you can use the sr bellhousing with the ka gear box.
