I've searched before and read through some TSB's on this issue. I have an 02 QX4 with nearly 80K on the odometer and it seems like when the truck shifts, it shifts hard. Engine flares only happen rarely when the truck is cold as the TSB's states, however the shifts are hard most of the time from 1st to 2nd and 3rd.

The dealer said that it is most likely the transmission solenoids. Can this be the case?

Trannys can be very deceptive... especially after a few beers.

Have you tried basic filter and fluid service?

I love the fact that we can't have a transmission thread w/o at least one joke referring to transexuals!

So far it seems nissan trans can be finicky. Mine did something funny like that, wouldn't stay in any gear for any length of time. Mechanic put in an additive and it started behaving rather nicely. Did flush and new fluid and haven't had a trouble since. But has always kind of shifted hard.

Read once somewhere that the nissan factory AT cooler is crappy and likes to get plugged up. Thinking of doing this at some point:

Some NisTech recommended it on some other board.
