I'm trying to seperate the gear box from the bell housing... The 5 bolts from the inside of the housing are out. The bolts that connect the gear box and the housing are out. It still doesn't budge. Am I missing something? or do I just need to go crazy on it. Any tips would be great and yes I did search. Someone said to chizel but that didn't make a lot of sense... maybe just shed some light on me over here thanks guys.

Make sure you take these two plugs out, otherwise you won't get the top half of the trans to budge.

After that, just whack at it a bit with a deadblow and work it off. After many years of being together, transmissions don't like to seperate easy.

Also, once it seperates, try to rotate and guide the shifter linkage out of the gearbox housing.

I guess it's time for me to do that DYI on this project.

did u remove the snap ring that fits over the input shaft? OH and dude, just to prevent u being in the same sitch that I am.. i'm going to tell you.. before you put that front cover back in the bellhousing.. get your shifter and clamp it in... now make sure you can go through the gears easily... make sure you check that those three rods aren't sticking out and they are all even... I swapped my bellhousing and i had some trouble putting the bell back on because the little rods didn't want to line up. Now my car is stuck in gear somehow.. even when it's in neutral it's still in gear..
