transmission question/problem any solution?

Hi guys, for some reason when I'm at a complete stop it wont go to first gear, if I wanna get the gear to first gear, I either have to start rolling or go to 2nd and move it up to 1st. Anyone know what could be causing this problem? And also its a OBX short shifter but it just seems really rough to be changing gears, is this normal? thanx.

Not sure if this will help you at all, but i also had this problem, or one like it. First gear wouldnt go in, or if it did, it was hard. The only way to get it into first was to pop it in at just the right time when slowing down to a stop. I had a friend check it out and he put a new master cylinder in, and the problem cleared right up. Maybe something worth looking into.

master cylinder huh? how much did it cost to put a new one in with the part?

could also just been worn syncro's. How many miles are on your transmission? Does it grind going into any other gear?
