Tranny question on a 240sx V8 swap

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

t5 transmissions suck.

tko500 holds 500 ft/lbs and cheap has a an option of a 3.27 or 2.87 $2000 then need bellhousing, clutch setup and shifter, mechanical speedo block off (http://www.fortesparts.com/ carries these) .68 overdrivealso a tko600 600ft/lbs only the 2.8? first gear with a .64 overdrive. both come with the option of a .82 5th gear for racing.

95 or 96 lbs dry.

gm t56 is not as strong 450 ft/lbs. heavier 126lbs dry and longer. 1200-1800- usedcan use a hydrualic throwout bearing or clutch fork with the slave cylinder on either setup.

t56 came on camaros and firebirds starting with the LT1 motors mid 90'sneed a aftermarket bellhousing to mount to sbc.

If your motor is mounted with the firewall unmodified I would go for the usedt56. I think the overall length of a t56 from mounting point (bellhousing to engine block) to shifter location is greater than that of the TK0 .

there are other options but these are the cheapest I have come across that will hold up. there are other stronger t56 options and the richmond transmissionsbut there 5 speed are 3K.

just in case you are not aware of this yet your stock clutch MC will not displace enough fluid for either of the options mentioned above, wilwood or tilton with .75 bore should work.

I got the TKO500 with the mcleod hyudraulic throwout bearing, quicktime 17lb bellhousing, centerforce dual friction clutch, wilwood MC(.75),custom made t-6 aluminum pistol grip shifter stick and handle(one piece I made after realised that you can not cut and weld a hurts aluminum shifter stick. solid aluminum core with cast aluminum on the outside) $3000 dollars for this setup.

The LT-1 t56 will work with a special flywheel ...
