I just picked up a 2003 Z and long story short, he claims that the transmission was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago. But there is A LOT of noise mainly when the clutch is engaged in between shifts and on the decel from<3500 rpm. It sounds Like the gears are grinding or there's something smashing around loose in there. He claims that it is "normal" for a rebuilt transmission and he had the transmission fluid checked my a mechanic and its clean. Is this normal or is the transmission bad? :ohno:

No it's not normal, is it a manual or auto trans? I have rebuilt both and there should be no noises when your done. If you take it to a shop and give them as much detail about the problem as you can they should be able to give you an idea of whats going on. If you can't afford it try taking it to a local tech school. Schools will do it for free the only down side is that it might take awhile to get your car back. I am in school now and it shouldn't take more than a semester to fix it, if it's a manual it won't take long at all.
