transmission problem

I'm putting in an SR20DET in a s13 and am having problems with the clutch fork. it seems the fork is being pressed from within the transmission and moving the portion outside of the transmission forward. so far forward that i can't get the slave cyclinder on. could it be i was given the wrong size throw out bearing? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
