Did you properly install a new manual trans pilot bushing?

i do not know.a local shop said they installed a new clutch kit but looks like it was never done.no marks on bolts on bell housing. would the bushing cause this problem ?it does not smell like burnt clutch.no smell at all.what does this bushing do?

just inside the flywheel, you need to have a bushing there to stabalize and hold the output shaft of the transmission.

The bushing is a little copper or brass ring about the diameter of a wedding ring.. actually much like a wedding ring... only much deeper... like 6 wedding rings stacked up.

The reason for the bushing is to keep everything stable and properly aligned. If the output shaft get's out of alignment, it will not engage the clutch properly.

If you don't have a pilot bushing... when things get out of whack, you will hear a grinding sound..

What kind of noises to you hear?Anything strange at all???
