I am installing a clutch in my 90 ka24e. Little problem, though. My transmission seems to be getting hung up on the pressure plate or something. I used a Snap On universal pilot tool since Nissan doesn't give you one with the clutch kit. The bell housing doesn't seem to be hitting anything, but as soon as it is about 3/4 inch from the block it stops. I pulled it back out and tried to re-stab it. To no avail. Any suggestions? Anyone?

It sounds like the clutch disc may not be lined up quite right. This would cause the input shaft to either hit the pilot bearing and not want to go in all the way or the part of the shaft that is splined will not want to enter the disc splines.

If you have the transmission out again try checking the alignment of the clutch disc. Even if it isn't aligned perfectly I can usually force it in with a little elbow juice.

Thank you, but I already checked that. The disc looks like it is perfectly aligned. I was putting all of my weight into it along with a hefty tech I work with. And that was on a lift up in the air. I guess I am going to have to stop being cheap and find a pilot tool. I can't think of what else it could be. I was under that thing for half an hour on the same problem. Patience is long gone.

The only other thing I would check is try to put the clutch disc onto the input shaft with the transmission on the ground just to make sure it fits. I would also measure the input shaft size and the diameter of the pilot bearing to make sure it is the same size. Every once in a while you will get the wrong one due to a packaging error or a sales clerk error.
