transmission not shifting properly

New to the site-had this posted in the wrong forum--sorry!!! I have a 1993 240sx automatic with 80,000 miles. Sometimes (once a week or so) the transmission just stays engaged in 1st gear and the car will accelerate as long as you give it gas. It will not shift out of 1st gear, although the revs can get very high. I'll pull over and start driving again and it might or might not shift properly. Sometimes I'll restart the ignition or put it in and out of park, but it doesn't seem to follow a pattern. Fluid and filter were changed recently and of course the problem wouldn't happen at the transmission place!! It might happen every few weeks or several times a day-it's driving me nuts!! I appreciate any suggestions on this. Andy

im in the same boat...time for a rebuild or a 5 speed swap...ive already priced a trans rebuild myself...1,300-2,300 just for a soft part rebuild...5 speed swaps vary in price and trust me...if you do your homework...you wont get to close to the 1,300 buck low ball rebuild...ive already sourced a complete 5 speed swap and im under a grand...just gotta start swaping the stuff over...happy hunting dude
