Hey everyone and anyone who can help me. I have transmission problems-or at least I think it's in the transmission. Here's the problem. When I have the car in first gear and have the clutch pressed down and give it a little gas to about 1.5 RPM and let the clutch off a little until the clutch engages, the car (transmission) makes a high pitched noise. It sounds like an air-powered impact gun, only at a lower noise level. Also, I can feel a slight vibration in the stick shift (that's why I think it's in the transmission). Mods in terms of my transmission include only an ACT street/strip clutch kit. After the car engages, and I accelerate, the noise goes away and don't hear it unless I put it into neutral again. And when it goes into neutral, the noise comes on and off until I rev the engine and then it'll go away. What's the problem??? Anyone got any suggestions?? Is it my synchros, clutch, or what?? How much will it cost and will I most likely have to get a new transmission??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've had the clutch in there for about 25k miles and I've only raced it less than 15 times (1 run each). No peelouts either. Only daily driven.

I dont know how you drive, but you may have worn the clutch.... doesnt sound like anything more than that.

Also, just for Sh|ts and giggelz, check the motor mounts for cracks looseness etc.... and transmission mount...

I had the same noise i think you are describing. It happened coming back from from the Indy meet. I just replaced the clutch like 800 miles on it. Then the whining got louder until it got worse. I stoped hearing it when teh engine noise cancelled it out. I said something to a friend that my car doesn't sound right and he said let it go. Later that day my transmission started to bind up. So i drove it 5 miles home and parked it, transmission binding up evverytime i let off the gas of changed gears. I have to still take the transmission out and inspect it. The the gear oil in the transmission is full too. I think I broke a gear or some thing. Is something binding up in my transmission which is now toast. I'm not saying its you transmission but that is just what happened to me. Nick
