I'm installing a new transmission mount this weekend. It seems like it would be pretty straightforward, but I'm wondering if there are any tricks to it that would make it easier?

Thanks,Pat

My trick was to pay my tech 70 bucks! BTW, this was today and the car is now smooth as wet glass and many dB quieter. It was the TM all along to those who had bets out on the vibration!!! Thanks to you Vegas dudes, and to NICO, my 94's the winner. This is a great place to be lost.

1. the damper plate is heavy, so be ready to catch it. 2. i would remove the whole 6-pak plate (from the exhaust hangars) with the mount and reinstall the same way.3. no better time to do those 2 exhaust hangars than when you do the mount. you basically take them out anyway.

Good thing I read this post. Maybe that is the causeof my humming vibrations. I know the transmission mount is bad. I can feel it when I floor it etc...

I guess I'll be throwing the car on the lift this week. Man I hate getting dirty!

A lift makes it so much easier.

You will be a happy man once this is done! I can not believe the difference the new TM made. Its a brand new $70K car for 4,800.

Speaking of this I'll start a cost to spec thread.

Make sure to support the transmission under the pan using wood block(s) and a bottle jack or stand prior to removing the TM.

I totally agree that changing the TM and exhaust hangers made a huge difference in vibration and smoothed out the ride.

Thanks guys, I'm doing it this week. I'm in the middle of selling damn near everything we own for our move to Hawaii so I have been swamped up to now. I'm looking forward to the results...

By the tailshaft housing? No problem.

Usually I use a jack on the oil pan flange (not on the pan).
