I bought my 240 several yrs ago with 135k on the odometer, didn't shift well at all - so I switched to MT90 shortly afterward and the transmission felt like new.
Had a new clutch (and seals) put in at 152K miles, gave the shop some fresh MT90 to use - 2000 miles later I noticed wet spots on my garage floor - checked my transmission and it was low (it had never leaked noticeably prior to this).
I took it back to the shop, and the mechanic checked it over - said the leakage was out the rear due to some wobble in the output shaft, and said it might be due to the MT90 being on the thin side for a high mileage transmission.
I was curious to know if anyone else has had experience like this? (I did notice a small flat spot on the rear of the transmission and was actually suspicious that they had dropped my transmission and bent the housing, so it wouldn't seal.)
After talking to a guy from Redline, I went with some straight 50 wt racing oil - he said it would slow down the leakage and not corrode the synchro bushings, though the shifting hasn't been nearly as smooth.
