HI ThereI have swapped the speed/revolution sensor and the transmission. I have heard that the car has a computer specifically for the transmission... is that called the ecu or ecm? Where is it located in the car. I can't find it in the chilton's. my car is a 92 240sx SE.

I believe it is directly above the engine ecu, but I'll check. I believe that the 89 would not work....I would say for sure that the 91-92 would but I'm really not sure about the 90....call nissan and get part numbers for both and see if they are the same. I don't have a lot of experience with the autos on these cars.....I'll see what I have....mine is a 92 and was an auto. I live in Indy

The TCM is located inside car either on passanger side kick panel under dash or on the floor on the hump under radio. if it shifts like a car that has a shift kit in it, shifts real hard into every gear it sounds like the transmission is running at maximum line pressure it could be caused by a bad or possibly unpluged line pressure resistor. its located under hood by the air intake box where the air filter goes. it should be mounted either to the side of strut tower or on finder side. it will look like a small box about the size of a piece of stick gum with 2 wires going into a connector. there is a spec for it using an ohm meter you may be able to find on chilton or online but odds are if you test it will read open. well good luck hope this helps

the throttle position sensor is a real good posability. the post on here was good info even if you dont find it full of water it is worth checking, green build up in the connector can cause problems or maybe it is out of adjustment. what happens is the transmission control module thinks that you are at wide open throttle even when your not so it drags all the gears out and boost the line pressure to maximum...thats a real good piece of info posted.good luck

Is mounted to the throttle body on the right hand side if your looking at it....for an auto it should have 6 wires....

Well I was told by the moderator and a few others to the check the throttle position sensor. I put in the TCM first and it didn't work. So I did the check that another member posted and sure enough the code was the third blip which meant the throttle position sensor. You guys are awesome. I ordered the sensor and it will be in tomorrow in the early AM!! I post if it is all set in the AM!Thanks to all
