transmission is sticking? Help!

I have a 1990 300zx I just bought. However the guy who sold to me did not tell everything. The transmission shifts well at night when it is cool out but when it is hot it seems to not want to go into gear after driving for a while. I actually had to force into 1st gear when I was tring to pull off. I think it might be the pressure plate. What do you think?

Check the fluid level and bleed the system.

Agree, check the fluid level. I am assuming it's a 5spd...correct?

Just curious, does it feel like the clutch is slipping?

hey man every time they come into the shop with that problem we drain a quart of gear lube out and put a quart of ATF in ti fixs it every time if you change the trans oil and put to thick of oil in it it will also do that

Try changing the transmission fluid, I would suggest putting Redline MT-90 in the transmission, as would most of the Z world.
