Well on my way on grabbing something to eat from chik-fil-a, my transmission started acted weird. Whenever I stopped at a red light and I start accelerating, the car jerks before starting to go, after about 5 minutes of this I reached the place and as soon as I parked the transmission refused to do anything. I put it in reverse and nothing happens, I put it in drive and nothing happens, basically all I had left was park and neutral. It was the orginal auto transmission that came with the car and I guess at 108k miles it finally went. I'm pretty sure the transmission blew but can there be another reason for this happening because my mechanic tried putting on another transmission from a parts car to it and still nothing. help plz...

So can you place the car in Drive and Reverse and nothing happens ? As if the vehicle was still in Park or Neutral ? Any kind of transmission leaks prior to the problem rearing its head ? Did your mechanic use the same torque converter in both your old and parts transmission ?

Yea, thats what my friends did. Mind you it was a whole diffrent car. But the way your describing it his was his Tq plate and that something that engages the transmission to the motor had snapped.

check your fluid and fluid level first of all. look at the color. smell it. taste it. that should rule out whether or not the clutch packs are burnt.

Well there were no transmission leaks once so ever. The fluid levels were fine and I couldn't see anything abnormal about them. I don't know if my mechanic used the same torque converter or not when he changed the transmission so right now the torque converter seems to be the culprit from the stuff you guys having been telling me. Are there any other problems that might be able to cause this? If not then the TQ is more than likely to be the criminal mastermind behind all this. I'll look into what the mechanic has been doing so far and post more information this weekend. Thanks for helping so far guys. =)
