transmission having trouble with 2-3 shift (1994 Q45)

Whenever I am at wide open throttle (WOT) the transmission shifts perfect from 1-2 but when 2-3 comes around it seems like it bangs against the rev limiter or teeters between 2-3.

Is that an indication of rebuild time? it only happens at that 90-95mph mark. If I let it out it shifts and then i can stab it again and it's fine.

How about a brief transmisssion service history? When did you install a cooler? What does "let it out" mean?

no transmission cooler yet. 153K miles. Car was driven mildly until now..lol

Let out meaning letting off the gas.

transmission fluid had been flushed every 30K (the proper way)

Well, I am certainly not a transmission tech, but if the fluids didn't show significant age by discoloration, it shouldn't have the shifting problem. Did you change the filter (screen) and clean the pan every other time?

Q45tech will probably chime in. I would suspect a varnished valve or bad solenoid, but that would only be a guess.

Without measuring the exact {BG machine} exchange time [3.5 minutes] hard to GUESS at the amount of pump [bypass internal] leakage.

Try using Mobil 1 Syn ATF with a dash [half bottle 5-6 ounces] of Lubeguard Red [not Black] no friction modifiers. It will shift faster before rev limiter.

150k [10-11 years] is very decent transmission life, gotta expect some old age symptoms by then.
